North is the time of winter. A time of consolidation, turning knowledge into wisdom. It is the place of our Elders. It is a state of being, of clarity of intent, focus, a conscious awareness of our own uniqueness. The animal totem in the north reminds us to stop and listen, answering the question: Does the way I move through life reflect an awareness with all that is, including forces unseen and unmeasurable? Am I at one with the winds of life?
