- Governing animals: Eagle, Mouse: the characteristics of these animals provide metaphors which define the correspondences for the East: their habits, methods of coping with stress, their culture, who their enemies are, how they raise their young, their strengths, diet, habitat, etc.

The sun rises in the East. This is symbolic of birth and all new beginnings…renewals, springtime. The rising sun illuminates and enlightens us to the purpose of our existence, it opens the spiritual eye giving us discernment. Animal totems here can help us discover our greatest spiritual challenges and strengths, answering the questions: What does spirituality mean to me? Why am I here? What is my intended path? What’s the big picture? What’s the driving force of my existence? What powers my intelligence?
Blind energy requires intelligence to light the way and Spirit to determine it’s direction.
